Giving Back To Those in Need During COVID-19

Posted April 3, 2020

Right now, so many individuals are looking for ways they can help those most in need during this uneasy time. While still abiding by state mandates to stay home, there are plenty of ways to give back to the community and country during the spread of COVID-19.

Here are some ways we can give back without putting ourselves or others at risk.

FLATTEN THE CURVE

We often think that by giving back, we have to physically give or do something. But, the biggest thing you can do right now for your community and your loved ones is to follow government directions to flatten the curve.

To slow and stop the spread of COVID-19, do the following:

  • Limit grocery shopping and go alone if possible. Avoid bulk buying as this creates issues for retailers and other shoppers.
  • If you are able to work from home, work from home. If you are an essential employee, do your best to maintain a six-foot distance. Medical workers and first responders need us to follow the rules so they can safely do their jobs.
  • Only be with the people you live with. Do not visit family unless you are providing them with life-saving supplies or essential goods.
  • Wash your hands.
  • Sanitize regularly.

SERVE OTHERS

While many are eager to volunteer their time to help others, right now, the most important thing to do is to stay in place. The community service platform JustServe provides valuable resources on service projects you can participate in from your home.

In addition, look into your local organizations to see what they need. Maybe it’s making face masks for hospitals or serving as a valuable resource for information. Whatever it is you and your organization can do to help, do it. The time is now to come together.

BE HELPFUL

With an excess of false and misleading information all over social media and the internet, now more than ever, we need individuals and organizations to be advocates for positive information and for reliable sources.

Take the time to research an article before you share it, and do your due diligence to ensure that the sources you are sharing are valid.

We’ve compiled a list of valuable information for you here on valuable resources and trusted information.

BE POSITIVE

Whether you are a law firm or a private citizen, we all need to come together to spread positivity in this time of global hardship. Be a voice of reason and of hope. Offer your services where you can and just be a listening ear. Be a voice for those who need it most.

There are many ways we can do this. Use video to create a human connection, or share your expert advice. Establish connections with others who may feel alone right now. Do what you can to make this situation come and go as smoothly as possible.

REACH OUT

If you are in need of expert advice or the services, do not hesitate to reach out to us. We have organizations around the country ready to help you.
